Listening and Doing

James 1:19–27 challenges believers to do more than simply hear God’s Word. We are called to listen carefully, control our words and anger, and allow Scripture to transform how we live. James warns that hearing the truth without putting it into practice is self-deception, like looking into a mirror and immediately forgetting what we saw. Genuine faith produces visible change as the Holy Spirit sanctifies us and makes us more like Jesus. Pure religion is demonstrated by caring for those in need while remaining unstained by the world. God’s Word is meant not only to inform us, but to transform us.
